Short Term,
Immediate Goals for District 2
-
Install a traffic light at
East 19th & Idalou Road
-
Pave East 19th street in
front of St. Patrick's Church
-
Expand the East 24th Street
bridge with access roads to reduce accidents
-
Remove codes enforcement
from the Lubbock Police Department's job list
-
Use existing city
facilities in the district for more volunteer-staffed youth and
elderly centers - serviced by University & High School volunteers
-
Arrange City Council
meetings so that the public has easier access to their government
-
With impending $4.00 per
gallon gasoline it is wise for the City of Lubbock to expand public
transportation. Expanding CITIBUS would help the citizens of Lubbock,
Texas. There are many areas in District 2 where CITIBUS does not
route. There are many elderly and disabled that must walk a long way
to a bus stop.
-
Utilize volunteer outreach
from churches, existing agencies, and other groups to ensure contact
with vulnerable citizens in very cold and very hot weather
-
Ask LP&L, Energas, and
Excel to expand energy assistance programs for the elderly & disabled
Overall & Long

I will work to secure higher salaries and better benefits for our
POLICE and FIREFIGHTERS.
- This will aid in the recruitment, training and retaining of police
- Local recruitment first then outsourcing
- I will work toward Community Policing. Police will become friends
not foes.
- I
will work to improve and expand Peace Officer mentor program(s) for
students.
I will work to maintain the integrity of the community north of
Lowry Field and fight drugs & crime in that area.
- Absentee landlords must be accountable to the community.
- Codes enforcement must be applied fairly, but firmly.
I will work to keep our taxes low and provide FISCAL
RESPONSIBILITY.
- Taxes are a fact of life. We must pay for the basic and
appropriate, essential services of the community. Only when we cannot
pay for these services should a tax increase be considered.
- I believe in Truth in taxation.

generate $300,000.00 to $500.000.00 gross each year.

Utilities Commission provides that Utilities be RESPONSIVE to PUBLIC
NEED.
- Development must depend on the PRIVATE SECTOR - NOT TAX MONIES.
- Rejuvenation to be done in a timely manner, with minimum stress on
City of Lubbock investment.
- This revitalization WILL PROVIDE JOBS FOR PEOPLE IN MY DISTRICT.
